Left Off Center

Those of you who know my little mop top tot, know that he is a little...well...different. He marches to the beat of his own drummer and as a mother I celebrate that! I hope that he carries his "cautious" nature and "independence" with him throughout his life. As a mother preparing for the holidays, I am a little annoyed.

His biggest "quirk" is his attachment to shorts, a t-shirt and his crocs or sandals. God help us when it gets cold outside. That said, we were looking through Halloween costumes today and for weeks he has said that he wants to be a firefighter. "Ben you want to be a fireman, don't you?!?" "NOOOOO!!!!! I am a FIRE FIGHTER!" Big difference, I guess.

So he looks at the photo of the darling, happy child in the overpriced firefighter costume and beams! "That is what I want, Mommy!" And then he turned to me and finished: "But I am not wearing those pants. I am not wearing that jacket. I just mean...I am going to wear my day clothes. I just mean...I am going to wear a clean T shirt, my shorts and my crocs and that helmut. And maybe the axe!"

Oh joy!

I have the helmet if you would like to borrow it. I even have a very old, beat up fire fighter vest. I don't have the axe though. You're welcome to it all to see if he'll wear it.
